In the 1970's and 1980's she and her husband Dean adopted 5 children from Australia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong to join a birth son.

She was instrumental in pioneering two new programs: the adoption of children with disabilities to the USA and local foster care. Both continue and have befitted many hundreds of children.
On their return to Australia, Janette wrote for YWAM the Orphans and Family Ministry School (OFMS), a 6 month program, and led several courses and overseas outreaches.
Janette has also written a training module for Crisis Care International (USA) on Care for Orphans and Vulnerable Children, and has been the author of many articles and a consultant for many projects.
As an adoptive, birth and foster mother, a grandmother and a professional in children at risk, Janette has the ability to apply complex processes, theories and systems and to contextualise them for the field. As an educator, she brings practical and competency based training.

“Janette’s passion, dedication, skill and tenacity have amazed me for nearly 10 years! We have partnered with her in Thailand, Africa and an extensive development program in Myanmar (Burma). She has a unique ability to “read” the local situation and adapt her information so that is culturally relevant. Janette then delivers this material so that the way children at risk are managed changes nationwide.”
