Hannah, our Malaysia representative, held her first workshop soon after the training in Myanmar, Thailand and Cambodia.
The workshop was held in a village preschool. 13 women from different villages turned up,and The workshop was run in Bahasa.
The topics were mostly from module 1 and some from module 2, 4 and 7.
We had three Sessions:
Session 1 : Intro to NCART, Children needs and rights
Session 2: Behavior and Discipline
Session 3: Child Development and Play
As this workshop was for pre-school and play school teachers, we talked more about the value of play in normal child development.
The participants showed positive responses and feedback. Some feedback:
"I didn't know anything about CRC. It's helpful to know about it"
"I need to stop calling a child 'stupid', because it's the behaviour that is stupid, not the child"
"The discipline method is an eye-opener, it is worth trying"
"I didn't know that naughty behaviour is the result of painful experience"
I suggested that the women start a support group to encourage each other.
I helped them to start a Facebook group called COBWeb for Children Of Borneo Web.
